Bisha Mining Company – Job announcement for Eritrea, Asmara

Bisha Mining Share Company is inviting applicants for the following three positions for its
Bisha Site Project;
1. Occupational Health and Safety Officer (OHS)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for management and promotion of on-site health and safety at the mine
site.
2. Develops and implements policies and procedures of environmental regulations.
3. Monitors the entire Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
4. Ensures Employees, Contracts and Visitors complies with the OHS regulations standard
and internal project guidelines.
5. Confi rms the attainment of complete documentation against every accident.
6.Initiate effective and efficient action using appropriate legislations, where necessary, to
resolve issues.
7. Completes all necessary documents, records and reports required.
8. Establishes good relationship with State and private bodies which are connected to OHS
of the project. Provides technical assistance to investigations concerning suspected
hazardous materials, protective measures to be taken.
REQUIREMENTS
• A University degree holder in Engineering or related fi elds.
• Experience on construction projects as Health and Safety Manager or advisor.
• Applicants should be experienced in developing, implementing and monitoring safe work
practices.
• Experience in both construction and operating mine environments will be well regarded.
• Good knowledge of computer application.
• Fluent in English and report writing.
2. GRADE CONTROL PIT TECHNICIAN (NEEDED 2)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Good oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
2. Basic first aid training.
3. Certifi ed as competent sampler, keeps record of start, finish and down time on the RC
Rig,
4. Capable of training samplers, full understanding of sample submission and
reconciliation.
5. Understand the dig plan (identification of polygonal shapes) with various RL’s and must
be able to recognize problems with ore mark outs and survey pegs.
6. Understand the use of toe lines and the need to mine from the hanging wall to foot
wall.
7. Understands the colour coding of ore blocks and able to tape up ore blocks with some
level of supervision.
8. Undertake monthly specific gravity sample pickups.
9. Maintain proper truck records – count, tell and stay awake.
10. Liaise with the production Geologist to conduct weekly tool box safety meetings.
11. Ensure all items needed by the Ore Control Officer/ Ore Spotters and samplers are carried
to the pit – dig plans, fl agging tapes, ore dispatch boards truck tallies, water etc.
12. Ensure daily pre-start check vehicles.
13. Should able to maintain a good working relation with others in related departments.
14. Monitor quality control at the rig site – ensure adequate sample size, check splitter,
cyclone, avoid contamination of the sample – cyclone to be always kept clean and
recognize contamination in RC and Blast hole drill samples.
15. To act in the absence of Grade Control Geologist.
16. 75% of working hours should be spent in the pit.
REQUIREMENTS
• Diploma or Bachelor Degree from a recognized Institution.
• Pit Technician with a minimum of one year exposure to the mining and mineral industry.
• Applicants should be leadership experienced for at least one year.
• Computer literacy is an advantage but not a pre-requisite.
• Fluent in English and report writing.
3. MINE FOREMAN (PIT SUPERVISOR)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervisions of operators and mining equipment
2. Provide effective leadership to all crew members and drive a high performance culture
3. Ensure all mining crew are trained and authorized to operate mining equipment.
4. Support the Engineering Department in carrying out the daily/weekly/ monthly maintenance
plan
REQUIREMENTS
• High school or College graduate
• A certifi cate on Mine supervision Job planning and leadership
• 10 years experience in open pit mine operator
• 6 years experience in mining supervision
• Good experience in operating heavy machineries like Face shovel, Komatsu PC 300 and
PC1100 excavator, 330and 375 Caterpillar Excavator, 16H Caterpillar Grader, D9
Caterpillar Dozer, 773 and 777 Caterpillar Haul Truck
• Excellent English verbal and written communication
• Good ability in Computer
