Eri-TV: The 15th annual festival of Eritrean community members in Scandinavia opened today in Stockholm city witnessing the participation of more than 10,000 nationals from the respective countries and other areas of Europe, the Middle East, and Australia, among others.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Alem Teklegiorgis, chairman of the community’s holidays coordinating committee, pointed out that the theme of the event conveys the role of Eritrean women in the armed struggle for independence and the nation-building process, and that a seminar to this end would be conducted by the Chairman of the NUEW as part of the event.

Moreover, Mr. Yonas Manna, Executive of Embassy Affairs in Scandinavia, gave briefings as regards the nation’s endeavors towards ensuring economic freedom and social justice, and explained that the role of the community members is vital in adding color to the festival.

Adi-Quala, 25 July 2013 — The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Adi-Quala sub-zone said that remarkable accomplishments are being registered in Summer Work Program (SWP) on the basis of 10 work stations.

Dige, 25 July 2013 — The inhabitants of Jimiel village have become beneficiaries of social service facilities on the basis of promoting community-based living style.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Saleh Mustafa and Mr. Ali Hussein Yacob explained that the community used to face deprivation of basic social services as they used to lead nomadic style of living, and that their livelihood has by and large been improved following their resort to the new living style and the putting in place of the necessary facilities in the area. Gogne, 25 July 2013 — The inhabitants of Gogne sub-zone asserted that they would enhance role as regards prevention of communicable diseases. They further indicated that the community has been conducting popularization activities focusing on promotion of environmental hygiene practice, and that such efforts have given rise to betterment of community health.

Asmara, 25 July 2013 — The residents of Mai-Noah area in the Central region’s village of Adi-Segudo are constructing a 2 km-long road through integrating labor and financial resources.

The residents pointed out that lack of suitable road has been causing negative impact in viability of transport, and disclosed that the ongoing venture involves an expenditure of around 0.5 million Nakfa, besides the deployed labor force.
