Eri-TV: Asmara, 24 August 2013 — The Ministry of Health indicated that Eritrea is exerting stepped-up endeavors towards eradication of tropical diseases, and that a 4-year strategic plan has been mapped out to this end. It made the statement at a workshop which got underway over the past 2 days, during which it was stated that the joint venture between the Ministry and the WHO is focused on trachoma, water-borne diseases, leprosy and other diseases.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Yohanes Gebrat, WHO Representative in Eritrea, noted the importance of prompt public feedback in case of new incidence of such diseases. Another member of the organization equally called for enhanced community role in this regard.
Moreover, Dr. Araya Berhane, head of control of communicable diseases in the Ministry, highlighted the endeavors being exerted by the government to this end.
The participants of the meeting conducted in-depth discussion regarding the diseases, and put forth views on several issues.

Mendefera, 24 August 2013 — A new training center for women worth more than 28 million Nakfa which was put in place in Mendefera city in collaboration between the NUEW and the members residing in the UK was inaugurated today.
The Center comprises accommodations for 10 offices, training, computer lab, sales outlet, meeting, daycare and cafeteria, among others facilities.

Foro, 24 August 2013 — Farmers in Foro sub-zone are engaged in enhanced rain-fed farming endeavors with a view to raising harvest on the basis of jointly cultivating around 4,000 hectare-wide area which is rich in alluvial deposits from rivers.

Agordat, 24 August 2013 — The Prison and Rehabilitation Center in Agordat is enhancing endeavors towards promoting academic capacity of prisoners. It made the remark in connection with a graduation ceremony thereof during which it was stated that such centers have provided remarkable groundwork for nurturing the production capacity of such nationals.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt.
