Eritrea’s Amb. Tesfamichael Gerahtu speaks to the BBC about Human Trafficking

Eritrean Interview with Eritrea’s Ambassador to the UK and Ireland Tesfamicael Gerahtu responds to allegations that as many as 30,000 Eritreans have been kidnapped and tortured in the Sinai desert over the last four years. He spoke to the BBC’s Komla Dumor.

  1. 30,000 Eritreans kidnapped? –> They are living approximately after the statistic of UNHCR between 20,000-30,000 Eritreans and they are all not kidnapped 4 or 5 years ago the way from Eritrea to Sinai was peaceful. I know personally friends who live now in Israel and they told me when they arrived in Israel they weren’t tortured or raped.
  2. Every year the price for entry Israel via Sinai becomes expensive from a few thousands dollar up to $45,000 in 2012.
  3. Most of the victims of Sinai comes from the Refugee Camp May Ayni. Watch the Video of the Eritrean Demonstration in Ethiopian Refugee Camp.

The sad thing is that not even one word was mentioned about Ethiopian Refugee Camp – May Ayni.
